This Month's Edition of "Good To Know!" - March 2011
Every month, the City of Moose River website covers certain important topics that we feel is important for the people of Moose River to know. Maybe it's something about a new product that could save your life, or a small group of people that is in dire need of help. Whatever it may be, we feel that it would do everyone a world of good to take a look at what's happening in our fair city and think about how our lives can be made better because of what we know now.

For this month... in light of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and all the ways that the people of Moose River, of Tuolumne County, of California and of the United States of America have come together to send help to the Japanese... it's easy to forget that what happened in a single day in Japan has been going on every day here in our own backyards. It is estimated that, because of the earthquake and tsunami, some 20,000 people may be dead in Japan and perhaps three times as many are now homeless, as well countless others whose livelihoods have been destroyed. But these are numbers that Tuolumne County's total 20 million some-odd people face almost every year. But unlike those in need of help in Japan, there is no worldwide relief effort for our dead, dying and homeless, no musician writing songs for those in pain and poverty here in our fair city and county, no famous star generating a five minute applaud at an awards ceremony for merely saying "help them, the ones in Tuolumne County that need help." But it's not to say that it doesn't exist.

This month's edition of "Good To Know!" mainly focuses on the nameless heroes and heroines of the Tuolumne County Green Cross, which is not only headquartered here in Moose River, but also find some of their most challenging work outside of downtown Sonora here in Moose River. They didn't wait for others to join in the cause to help their fellow human being in their own neighborhoods, they jumped right in without batting a single eye. "Good To Know!" also focuses in on the dire situation that the Tuolumne County Green Cross is facing on all fronts; memberships, donations, fundings and plain ol' human emphathy that the Tuolumne County Green Cross required to stay afloat have taken a major hit over the last several years between the economic meltdown of the past several years combined with increasing costs of simple day-to-day operations. To which, below are some examples of what the Tuolumne County Green Cross had original sent out to individual people on an individual basis, but today, we're sharing it with everyone in the City of Moose River--and beyond--in the hopes that everyone out there can all do that one small thing which, together, can make a big difference.

Brochure

You've probably seen many of Tuoulmne County Green Cross' flyers, handouts and brochures all over the county: at your local Red's Mart, under your windshield wiper, or handed out with every donation at the Santa Donation Station the TCGC sets up every Christmas. Here is one of the Green Cross' most well known brochures, one that has since become a local cultural icon!

Press Release

Next month, the Tuolumne County Green Cross is having its Third Annual Green Cross Street Faire, which has been a roaring success since it was first introduced in 2009. If you want to have an idea of what's going on at THIS year's Green Cross Street Faire, take a look at the Press Release the TCGC wrote about their first event!

Solitication Letter

A letter written by the Tuolumne County Green Cross' new Communications Director encouraging one of their members to give a hand and help the Green Cross, giving some important reasons why they should the Green Cross. Maybe this letter can encourage YOU to give them a hand?

Strategy Memo

The strategy memo written by the Tuolumne County Green Cross focuses in on some of their plans for the future to generate interest in helping the Green Cross continue to grow via membership donations from three key potential members.

Grant Proposal - Affirming Brilliant Choices

An example of the Tuolumne County Green Cross' commitment to helping combat a major disease afflicting the people of Tuolumne County: substance abuse. However, due to the Green Cross' limited funds, they have been sending out many grant proposals of this sort in the hopes that many program funding resources are willing to help out.

This Month's Edition of "Good To Know!" - February 2011
Every month, the City of Moose River website covers certain important topics that we feel is important for the people of Moose River to know. Maybe it's something about a new product that could save your life, or a small group of people that is in dire need of help. Whatever it may be, we feel that it would do everyone a world of good to take a look at what's happening in our fair city and think about how our lives can be made better because of what we know now.

For this month... the recent economical meltdown of the past several years have taken an immense toll on heart, mind, soul and pocketbooks of everyone in Moose River and beyond, no matter who they are (especially the Tuolumne County Green Cross, which we shall cover in next month's "Good To Know!"). Business is down, meaning people are working less and thus earning less, which means they buy less, which makes business go down, and the cycle continues. However, investing in new businesses may be a good way to turn the city around and eventually help everyone in the county and state make a strong turnaround.

Thus, the Moose River Chamber of Commerce is introducing four "homegrown" businesses and projects which are either classic stalwarts of our city, or are a new idea which could turn into the next big thing to spread like wildfire--just like those classic stalwarts were like when they themselves were a mere idea as well--which they Chamber of Commerce feels will be a worthy investment in. If anything, in times when some banker halfway across the nation has a stranglehold on your money, it'll make for a good feeling to know that you're investing in something local but none-the-less big.

Invest In Moose River!

This is a multi-page document which details four companies incorporated in Moose River which the Moose River Chamber of Commerce recognized as a great financial investment. Included in the document is an introduction to each company, some of the strengths and benefits of investing in the company and why the company's future is far from in question, as well as infographics and other data backing up each company's investment value.

If there's anywhere an investor should start, it should be this document!

Standard Operating Procedure for Durochi Systems acquisition of Hangnail Software

Somewhat unrelated to this month's Good To Know!, Durochi Systems had in 2009 acquired developer Hangnail Software. Under Moose River Local Proposition 1930-Q, businesses which are incorporated in Moose River which acquire, are acquired or merged with any other company is required to make public document(s) detailing the process of the acquizition within two years of the completion of the acquizion or merger, in order for the public to ensure that the business incorporated in Moose River--including its employees--treats (or is treated) just and fairly.

In compliance with the law, Durochi Systems is making public its standard operating procedure guide detailing its "just and fair" treatment of the acquired company, developer Hangnail Software.
